As we approach the end of "The Noughties" we can look back on another rollercoaster decade in the UK's economy, and a historic one for the finance industry. When we all watched the firework displays nearly ten years ago and questioned the decision to spend millions on The Millenium Dome, who would have thought that UK banks would be on the verge of collapse, customers would queue all day outside branches to try to withdraw all of their savings, several well known plc banks would merge and others would need last minute government money to keep them afloat. Some politician mentioned that his aim was to end the boom and bust of the economy, he didn't quite get it right, did he? As a result of the last few years, the UK finance industry has changed with banks merging, and/or reducing the services they offer. No doubt it will change further in the future and who knows what awaits us. In the meantime, Safeguard Commercial Finance Limited will continue to source suppliers of funds to meet the requirements of clients in all of the different areas of finance we offer. On behalf of the staff at Safeguard Commercial Finance Limited I would like to thank you for the support you have given this year, and hope we can continue to work together in 2010. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Alan Wigham |
